What is Southern California Regional Energy Center (SCREC)?

The Southern California Regional Energy Center will provide energy resources, expertise and technical assistance to multiple local governments within the Southern California Edison service territory. The center will provide resources to develop strategic energy management plans for municipal energy efficiency projects with a goal to bring together local government to identify and fund government facility energy efficiency projects.  The center will develop and implement a collective funding strategy that will include private sector financing to enable participating local governments to pay for retrofits without up-front funding. The project will serve as a model for energy efficiency retrofit implementation and financing statewide.

The Energy Coalition, Los Angeles County, Southern California Edison, and private financing firms.

What are the Outcomes?

Outcomes include municipal strategic energy plans, completed, energy efficiency projects, collective funding strategies that include private sector financing, and tools, templates, and model codes local governments.

On behalf of Los Angeles County, The Energy Coalition is leading the team to develop the Southern California Regional Energy Center which will serve as a regional model for local government collaboration statewide.
