The Energy Coalition is guided by the following tenets:

• Energy use is embedded within every choice we make and within every activity within our communities.  Energy is integral to all our actions and accomplishments. 
• Accountable energy communities are formed to collectively and mutually protect energy resources and to realize the reciprocal economic and social benefits of strategic energy practices.
• Creating accountable energy communities is vital to creating a sustainable planet.
• Connecting ideas and people is essential to generating energy innovation.
• Targeted energy solutions, systemic energy strategies and practical energy programs must be grounded with astute and effective implementation and management.
• Social capital is created through person-to-person relationships and building of trust and common purpose among community members and is fundamental to any community success.
• TEC’s success is measured by the positive impact on the communities in which we work.
