Rachel Pennington has over six years of experience designing engaging and customer-centric programs that help public agencies and small businesses reduce their energy costs and decarbonize their facilities. Rachel provides strategic direction for The Energy Coalition’s portfolio of energy efficiency and distributed energy resource programs, including the Central Coast Leaders in Energy Action Program (CC-LEAP) and the Southern California Regional Energy Network Public Agency Programs (SoCalREN). Prior to TEC, Rachel served as a Program Coordinator for the University of California, Irvine, where she managed the campus Sustainability Resource Center and implemented programming focused on renewable energy, zero waste, and environmental justice. Rachel holds an M.A. in global studies from the University of California, Berkeley, and a B.A. in environmental science with a minor in global sustainability from the University of California, Irvine.
