Advanced Energy Community Project Provides 50 Free Water Heater Tune-ups Across the Community

TEC’s BAAEC project has reached an exciting milestone!

At TEC, we’re passionate about helping communities to create their clean energy future. Our innovative pilot project, the Bassett Avocado Heights Advanced Energy Community (BAAEC), is just one way we are partnering with local communities to create the energy future that’s right for them. And we’re proud to announce that BAAEC has recently reached an exciting milestone!

We’ve now completed 50 water heater inspections, or “tune-ups,” in the Bassett and Avocado Heights area. To provide the tune-ups for free, we identified and secured additional project funding from a TECH Clean California Quick Start Grant. Not only did we help residents identify opportunities to save money and reach our project goal, we also developed a strong list of candidates for BAAEC’s free heat pump water heater retrofits!

“Achieving our project goal of 50 existing water heater tune-ups is extremely exciting,” said Genaro Bugarin, TEC’s Director of Energy Innovation, who oversaw the water heater assessments. “This has been a simple, unique, and well-received service that helped introduce residents to our Advanced Homes water heater retrofit offering.”

If you know TEC, you know we are not stopping anytime soon! Next, we’re using Quick Start Grant funds in partnership with Water Heater Warehouse to install electric heat pump water heaters in qualified homes. With TEC and BAAEC’s help, residents across Bassett and Avocado Heights are creating their clean energy future! To learn more about BAAEC and its Advanced Homes program, check out our website.

The Quick Start Grant is funded by California gas corporation ratepayers under the auspices of the California Public Utilities Commission.
