Here at The Energy Coalition (TEC), we’re committed to building a clean energy future that’s not just sustainable, but also equitable and responsive to the needs of our communities.
This vision aligns perfectly with our latest project – a collaboration with the Southern California Regional Energy Network (SoCalREN). Regional energy networks like SoCalREN play a crucial role in helping Californians to save energy. However, to ensure their programs truly meet local needs, they want to build a deeper understanding of community priorities.
In the California Public Utilities Commission’s (CPUC) decision authorizing the regional energy network’s plans for 2024-2031, they tasked SoCalREN with designing a community-based collaborative and program pilot to facilitate community involvement in energy efficiency program design and delivery. TEC has been contracted by SoCalREN to support this work.
This exciting initiative will bring together individuals from community-based organizations across SoCalREN’s diverse service area. These trusted voices will play a vital role in:
- Shaping the future: The collaborative will directly engage with community members, gathering valuable insights to inform the design of SoCalREN’s community programs.
- Building a model: Through this pilot, we’ll develop best practices for community engagement that can be applied statewide, ensuring a more inclusive approach to energy solutions.
- Empowering action: Working alongside the Greenlining Institute, a leading voice for environmental justice, we’ll equip communities with the tools and resources they need to take charge of their energy future.
This project is a significant step toward a more participatory energy landscape, where communities can create an equitable and affordable energy future.
