TEC to serve over 100,000 California students through the Statewide Workforce Education & Training Career Connections Program

TEC’s Energy is Everything Program will strengthen TK-12 students’ knowledge of energy and sustainability subjects while increasing access to energy careers

TEC was recently awarded a 4-year, $3-million dollar contract for the competitive Statewide Workforce Education & Training (WE&T) Career Connections (CC) Program. TEC is thrilled for the opportunity to advance environmental knowledge, skills, and abilities for under-resourced TK-12 students and build equitable pathways to high-demand energy jobs for students across California.

Administered through Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E), Energy is Everything will serve students in the PG&E, Southern California Edison (SCE), Southern California Gas (SoCalGas) Company, and San Diego Gas and Electric (SDG&E) territories.

The Statewide WE&T CC Program aims to teach energy and sustainability fundamentals and build high-value energy career pathways among TK-12 students. Under the program, TEC will deliver its all-new Energy is Everything Program, a TK-12th grade modular curriculum that explores energy topics through the lens of sustainability and conservation. Educators familiar with our recently retired PEAK Student Energy Actions Program can look forward to this exciting new offering in fall 2021 and beyond.

“In partnership with California’s investor-owned utilities, TEC will deliver energy-focused comprehensive training, materials, and ongoing support to TK-12 educators and their students. TEC’s goal is to support educators, students, and families, particularly those in hard-to-reach, rural, or under-resourced local education providers, to build sustainable and meaningful access for students by introducing them to high-demand energy careers and opening pathways into California’s clean energy future,” said Laurel Rothschild, Vice President.

As the clean energy industry continues to rapidly transform the need for a well-prepared clean energy workforce continues to grow. Energy is Everything is designed to build an active, prepared, and invested workforce pipeline within our most vulnerable communities to ensure that no one gets left behind in California’s quest towards a clean energy future. Energy is Everything students receive training and instruction, hands-on lessons and activities, access to internships, and connections to industry professionals.
